Allied Seafarers in the Second World War brings together the history of seafarers from various Allied nations in one comprehensive book. During the Second World War, hundreds of thousands of seafarers from different countries sailed in the Allied merchant fleet, making a crucial contribution to the Allied war effort. Eleven authors from seven different countries have contributed to this English-language anthology, with Bjørn Tore Rosendahl, PhD and academic director at the Norwegian Center for War Sailor History, serving as editor.
This book is part of the Norwegian Center for War Sailor History’s effort to place the history of war sailors in an international perspective and foster a global academic network for this important aspect of war history.
