ARKIVET Peace and Human Rights Centre is located at Vesterveien 4 in Kristiansand, just a short walk from Kristiansand city centre.

Opening Hours

Regular opening hours:
Monday: Closed
Tuesday-Friday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Sundays: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Closed during Christmas, December 23rd – January 4th.

Guided tour

We offer guided tours of the permanent exhibition, Focal Point Arkivet. The exhibition is located in authentic surroundings in the basement, where severe torture took place during World War II when the building served as the Gestapo headquarters in Southern Norway.

We provide guided tours in Norwegian most Sundays at 1:00 PM. Guided tours in English is available upon request.

During the summer season, daily tours in Norwegian are available at 12:00 PM. English tours can be arranged during the same period upon request for groups of at least 5 people.

Tickets for the English tour are purchased at the reception upon arrival. Tickets for the Norwegian tour can be purchased online.

Adult: 110 NOK (from 18 years)
Child: 50 NOK (4-17 years)
Student/Senior: 90 NOK
Family: 250 NOK
Group (minimum 15 people): 90 NOK per person

Entrance tickets are to be paid upon arrival.

Tickets for the guided tour in English can be purchased in the reception when you arrive. When you buy a ticket for the tour, it also includes entry to all our exhibitions. Tickets for the guided tour in Norwegian can be purchased online.

Food and drink

It is possible to purchase food and drinks at Hopeful Café ARKIVET on weekdays.

ARKIVET has a parking lot with free parking. Limited number of spaces during busy visits.

ARKIVET has its own museum shop with a selection of books and other souvenirs.
