"The Power of the Needle"
The project "The Power of the Needle" started in January 2019 with a series of embroidery workshops over six weeks. The workshops brought together women with refugee and migration background and women from the local community. The women got the task of embroidering together a separate motif that would express something about their identity and cultural heritage.
The embroidery installation is composed of all these individual embroideries. "The power of the needle" is about strengthening women's awareness, reintroducing embroidery as a form of expression, and showing the meaning it can have.
"All you need is a needle, a thread, and a story."
The power of the needle is a project under the auspices of Voices of the Refugees at the ARKIVET Peace and Human Rights Center.
