The Chamber of Memories: Children and War<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Chamber of Memories: Children and War\u201d is an exhibition about and for children, focusing on personal experiences of war and the effects it can have\u2014throughout an entire life and across generations. The exhibition opened on World Children\u2019s Day, November 20, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Exhibition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“The Chamber of Memories: Children and War” consists of three parts: the Memory Chamber, the Memory Workshop, and the Memory Staircase. The exhibition aims to create safe spaces for sharing memories across generations and cultures. Every child\u2019s experiences, memories, traumas, and encounters with war are unique. At the same time, there are many common threads. In the exhibition, we highlight both the personal and the universal aspects of childhood memories of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children aged 10 to 12 are the main target group for the exhibition. We want children to learn about the consequences of war from a child\u2019s perspective, while also ensuring that those with their own experiences of war feel recognized for what it means to carry this burden throughout life. We also want children who have not experienced war themselves to gain a deeper understanding of what such experiences can entail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Personal Stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fifteen men and women have contributed their childhood memories to the exhibition. Thanks to Bashir Ahmad, Sonia Ahmadi, Jane Nelly Andrew, Arne Eilertsen, \u201cHannah,\u201d Israa Mahameed, Lejla Mujanovic, Seif Zakaria, Elsa Brit Endresen, Randi Jacobsen, Edward Jada, Bodil Lunden, Mads Gedde Myrre, Myroslava Shevtsova, and Gro \u00d8sthus for their contributions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind the Exhibition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition is produced by ARKIVET Peace and Human Rights Center and SixSides, and has been made possible with support from Sparebanken Norge and Sparebankstiftelsen Sparebanken Norge. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
