War sailors in a global war
The exhibition consists of film, maps, and excerpts of letters that the sailors sent home to their loved ones. The war sailors were sailors who were to perform their job as usual, but under new and dangerous circumstances within a global war. Together with other Allied ships and sailors, they carried weapons, soldiers, fuel, and food all over the world.
The war sailors accounted for Norway's most significant contribution to the Allied victory during World War II, and the war sailors' efforts have been well recognized in Norwegian society today. The exhibition provides an essential insight into their lives and struggles during the war.
